Improving the quality of drivers is of vital importance in reducing the number of accidents. One such measure of improving the quality of driver is to tighten the existing system of testing the driver during the initial issue of Driving License.
Keeping in view the importance of conducting qualitative driving tests, the Government has provided full fledged driving testing Tracks in 31 Regional Transport Offices and 5 Unit Offices. Government has proposed to take up construction of Testing Tracks in the remaining Regional Transport Offices/ Unit Offices in a phased manner.
Presently though the driving tests are conducted in the Driving Testing Tracks it takes more time for the Motor Vehicles Inspectors to physically conduct the driving tests and monitor the qualitative aspects of driving. It is therefore decided to fix the closed circuit cameras in the driving Testing Track to record the conduct of driving tests before the issue of Driving License. By this method, the Motor Vehicles Inspector can monitor the driving of the applicant by viewing the monitor and can closely judge the driving capacity of the driver.
