Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India, New Delhi has issued a notification in GSR .1162 (E) dated: 04.12.2018, in which an amendment to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 is made and it is now called as the Central Motor Vehicles (Sixteenth Amendment) Rules, 2018 and it has come into force with effect from 01.04.2019 as per rule 126 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989. The vehicle manufacturers shall select the High Security Registration Plate vendor who has obtained Type Approval Certificate from the testing agency before the vehicle is registered and delivered to the owner. The approved High Security Registration Plate will be fixed by the dealer concerned.
